Amadou Onana
Deal almost done, according to the Beeb. 40m Euros. Personal terms still to be negotiated. Belgian international.

Anyone know anything about this fella? YouTube compilations show a dogged, 6'5" midfielder who's absolutely not afraid to get stuck in. Breaks up play well, creates chances, a real dynamo. One year with Rice, plus linking with Bowen, Antonio and Scamacca... excitement setting in.

Re: Amadou Onana
For him to have stepped into Rice’s shoes he would’ve had to be immense, and because of his actions or his sisters actions he wouldn’t have been with us long….so what would be the point….back at square one a season after selling Rice?…..no thanks….

Who knows the truth but understand that we were offering something like £65k pw rising to £100k & his sister wanted £135k per week because she and her agency skim 25% off the top of his wages.

Maybe they do need him if Doucoure is going to panic like that.

Southgate obviously there to watch his lovechild Mount ... not sure he has touched the ball

I see that Onana has just taken his seat in the stand at Goodison.

Assume that's the end of this clusterfuck.

Let's move on.

Re: Amadou Onana
Some Everton fans say that French and Belgium reports saying there is an injury concern. He didn't play in the last LOSC game.

Maybe just wishful thinking and poor journalism.

Nolan seems bewildered too.

I suppose it depends on who comes in instead.

Greedy fuckers.
I guess we offered a salary based on what level they would fit into our squad. For sure it was a lot of money they were offered. If we give them way above others we need to pay the others more.
Are they right to want more? Is the wage structure wrong, paying too little?
Time will tell.
I think we're best off without the greedy fuckers.

So how come Onana hasn't signed for Everton yet ? a medical yesterday but I can't see any info that he's signed.

More than far fetched. Utter nonsense that thought.

Re: Amadou Onana
Maybe a bit far fetched but I just wonder if their isn’t a bit of spite from Frank with this one? Saw an opportunity to get one over us and deny us a long term target and this bloke seems to have been on the radar and ongoing for a while, add in many Everton fans a bit perplexed with the signing given how many players they already have in this area of the pitch and how this youngster fits in?

Given their striker situation with injury’s and selling Ricarlson, lets hope it comes back to bite then on the arse, if Frank is around long enough that is!

Re: Amadou Onana
You never get to know the inner details but I still can't see how we have lost out on Lingard and Onana to lower clbs and outside of London. It's okay to say we don't want to have our pants pulled down, but why then has Moyes gone public lamenting the fact that we couldn't offer the right money to agents and players and missed out on them and hopes we get it right next time (assume he is talking about the aforementioned) ?

Time will tell
That's exactly what Everton fans are saying. How will he fit in ?
They have more competition but not as good as ours.
Surely Onana would of thought of this too. He'll of got plenty of game time with and would of wanted to play alongside Rice.
Everton want Gilmour yes.
I heard Kevin Nolan on R5 last night and he seemed more gutted that we didn't get Onana than Linguard. Understood why Linguard chose Forest more than why Onana chose Everton.
Said Onana was fast, strong and would create havoc.

I still don't get how we didn't have a clue what wages he demanded before the final bid. We had everything wrapped up with Scamacca.

cholo 9:55 Fri Aug 5

Exactly my concern. Best case scenario is that he's actually worth the punt at 120k per week at which point bigger clubs come sniffing around offering more money. I'd be afraid of a Payet scenario at that point

At this afternoons press conference Moyes said “Onana is in the building now, so hopefully we can get that one done”
Given that bit of news he’s not at Everton having a medical.

100 bags a week for a player who has 11 top division starts and is on 15k a week no wonder Everton are so fucked and totally skint. They have to be one of the worst run clubs in the world

He's 20 years old with very few first team appearances under his belt, but with massive potential. No manager in his right mind is going to [i] guarantee a starting spot, [ii] may 120k+ per week

Big fat Frank anyone?? ;-)

He's probably been offered something a lot closer to both by them to make him go there, he's looked at Rice and Soucek and wondered about how many 1st team starts he is going to get immediately.

As others have said Everton are cash strapped with no Front line so an interesting choice.

Pedro 2:18 Fri Aug 5
Re: Amadou Onana
Probably more to it but he wouldn’t have been first choice.
40 million and silly wages for a reserve doesn’t make sense. Not sure why we chased for so long.

Any future replacement for rice will be made when Rice is sold and we know how much money we have
